So here we go, how do you register for an Uber account?
It’s fairly simple. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Download the Uber App.
Available on Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS.
Step 2: Open the App and REGISTER.
NOTE: Make sure that the email address and phone numbers haven’t previously been used to register for an Uber account. Also, make sure you select the correct country because this will determine the country code of your mobile number. If the country code is wrong, you won’t be able to receive the verification code sent thru an SMS which you need to request for your first ride.
Step 3: Input your card details.
NOTE: In case you’re not familiar with CVV (Card Verification Value) and where you can find it, refer to the anatomy of a credit card below.

After verification of your card details, you’ll see the home screen of the Uber App where you can request for a ride. At some point before you can request for your first ride, you’ll need to key in the verification code which will be sent to your registered mobile number. It’s also best to verify your email address thru the confirmation email sent by Uber.

I also can’t register. Always prompting payment.service.timeout. I’m using Metrobank credit card.
There are also other riders experiencing the same since yesterday also using Metrobank Visa credit card.

You mean to be a Uber Partner? NBI Clearance for local employment will do.

You get the account verification field when you request for your first ride. Also, make sure that your Uber Rider App is updated. 🙂

I have bought a Travel Card from ICICI in india and been to Los Angeles recently, now i heard that the travel card can be used in many ways in USA and hence tried to enter the Card number in Add Credit Card Option from my Uber app(Note:I already registered and was using for a while in India), but it was saying “payment.service.timeout”, so can’t we add the travel card in the Uber account in USA ?

I am currently in Houston Texas with work and have signed up for Uber, however my UK phone does not work here and I am unable to receive the authentication code being sent to me. Is there anyway to have an authentication code emailed to the account email address instead?

Hi Steven, simply update your phone number (to a phone that works) in the Partner Dashboard under Profile Tab.
How do we load a Standard Bank Credit card (South Africa) as app keeps on telling me I must contact the bank. The bank states Uber is trying to deduct R0.00 but that is a nil value and thus rejected by bank. How do we get around this?
