LATEST Update: May 1, 2016
If you are a frequent commuter around Metro Manila and you want the comfort of an Uber ride but for a fraction of the cost, you are in for a treat.
Uber just launched its new service called uberHOP.
We know how worst Metro Manila traffic congestion can be #carmageddon. So Uber is doing a special pilot test of uberHOP and the goal is to reduce the traffic congestion in Metro Manila since riders who are heading the same direction will ride in just one vehicle, more riders into fewer vehicles. Since more people share a ride, fares are cheaper by up to 70% from the normal uberX ride.
What is uberHOP?
uberHOP is a new option that transports multiple people heading in the same direction by sharing a ride for a flat fare. If you ask us, this is the “real” definition of ridesharing!
How does uberHOP work?
- Riders (up to 6) coming from the same origin and who are going to the same destination. Rider can choose among the available routes on the app.
- Each rider needs to walk to the suggested meet up spot
- The fare is flat which means no surge pricing!
- Since we want to be courteous to the other riders, your driver will only wait the scheduled time provided in the app
- You won’t be able to contact your driver to make alternative arrangements
How much is an uberHOP ride?
uberHOP is a based on flat fixed fare that ranges from Php 50-120 depending on the distance and route. Refer to the fare matrix below.
What uberHOP routes are available? What time? How much?
Currently, uberHOP is available to and from Makati, BGC and Mandaluyong every Weekdays (Monday-Friday) between 7-10am and 5-9pm. See the route matrix below or your Uber Rider App for the exact details.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
As of May 23, 2016, Uber Manila had to cancel and discontinue some uberHOP Manila routes due to legal and regulatory concerns. Trinoma route is discontinued, please refer to the available routes below or you can also check in your Uber Rider App.
Please note that with the above changes, the following routes were temporarily DISCONTINUED:

What if I’m riding with a friend?
You can reserve up to two (2) seats in one uberHOP request. If you have more than two (2) friends with you, they need to request their own uberHOP (again, each request can reserve up to two seats).
5 Steps to HOP with uberHOP
Step 1: UPDATE
Update you Uber Rider app. Open the app the select uberHOP.
NOTE: You won’t see the uberHOP option if you don’t have the latest Rider App Update. Also, you won’t see the uberHOP option if you’re NOT in the uberHOP service area.
Step 2: REQUEST
Check whether you are near an area where uberHOP is available. Request your ride and you’ll be paired up with a driver as well as other riders traveling in the same direction.
NOTE: You cannot change the pick-up and drop-off locations. an uberHOP can accommodate up to 6 passengers.
Step 3: WALK
Walk to the suggested pick-up spot. Look for your vehicle and driver as seen on your Uber app. Arrive on time so as not to miss your ride.
NOTE: Be ready to walk to meet your driver at the designated pick-up point as soon as you request. Your driver will only wait the scheduled time given in the app. If you don’t make it to the meet up spot in time, you’ll need to request again to get a seat on the next uberHOP.
Step 4: RIDE
Walk to the suggested meet-up spot. Look for your vehicle and driver as seen on your Uber app. Arrive on time so as not to miss your ride.
NOTE: uberHOP will leave the meet-up point at the scheduled time given to you in the app, which will be 10 minutes or less. If no one else selects the same route as you, you’ll get a solo ride at the flat rate. Also remember that you CANNOT call the driver of uberHOP so make sure to arrive on time or you might miss your ride. You can check the app for the vehicle details.
Step 5: ARRIVE
Read our review and tutorial how to request for an uberHOP ride and in case you still have questions, refer to uberHOP FAQs.
Hope you can also consider route from ortigas ave extension (de castro) to bgc. There’s alot of commuters there like me 🙁
Yeah! we’re from Ortigas too. Let’s hope UberHop rolls out soon in Ortigas
Hopefully, you’ll add Taguig (McKinley Hills) too.
Hi,
I just recently read about the Uberhop, my mother has a 2015 Toyota Hi-ace van. How can she apply as partner-operator but she will not drive the vehicle? What are the requirements? and what are the requirements for the Driver? Thanks a lot.
Right now, hindi pa po open ang uberHOP for Partners. Will update once we get news from Uber.
Follow up question, if uberHOP is not yet open for Partners, who can apply for it or how can we apply for it? Because we live in the Makati area and proximity to BGC is very near. Thank you very much.
The routes is not vice-versa? So if the pick-up point is in Makati (The Columns) to BGC (Forbestown Road), the UberHop will just drop those passengers and will not have new route from BGC (Forbestown Road) to Makati (The Columns). Thank you.
Nope, not yet.
Agree wish it dropped off at columns too
This would be huge when applied to trips to Bicutan Sucat Cavite from makati/edsa area.
Great insight!
Thats unsight but a sure lose for operator and driver. As it is a 100 worth of ride can hardly compensate for uber cost, gas, misc. What i understand is uber ride is a private exclusive ride now your turning it into charity. Yes making this popular for your rider but your making your partner operators who are by the way doing all the investment so t uber can earn. And pls dont tell your or not in it for the money. What was the quote, GREEN MEANS CASH. UBERHOP MEANS RED LOOSING!
And besides uber is supposed to be a ride for those who afford of a private ride now your share to total stranger, thats very contradicting. Be all means lets turn uber into a jeepney system, a mass transportation. Imagine you will shob together 4 to 5 bodies in a sedan which normally can accomadate 4 riders and in a compact car that can only accomodate 3 riders. Where is the comfort in that?
Wow! I got hack. I just comment negatively about uberhop, i was not publish. Uberhop, is a hop for cheapness.
Yes! Great insight for cheapness. Last i check i phil is a democratic country, i commented negatively pointing out negative points about uber hop. The admin hack it and did not publish. Uberhop is a hop for cheapness.
75 ride uber takes 15, i ready my car, wash it, disinffect it, make all too cozy, gas it up, my driver put on a best get up hoping to have a above decent profit, here comes uberhop hopping in to give us 40 peso earnings that we split 20-20. Uber you owe me an explanation. I venture in with you because during the onboarding you made it clear that investor like me will profit for a well provided service. Look no offense to rider who is looking for a cheaper ride we still have the old transport system, but uber is supposed to be a transport with class thats why we operator provide you with a brand new well kept car service but for a fair price not for charity one

Ok uber if you want to do charity to riders but do not make operators by suffer. How about this in every uberhop ride uber won’t get your 15 peso to every 75 peso payout. Otherwise this is just but hypocracy. May i can say this for most operator, we invest because we expect a little profit, yes little in line with cost we invest. Rider once you agree to this system uber ride will just be one of those cheap rides. And if this continues many of us will stop giving classy service in very near future. So where will folks will end up riding again to cheap transport. Sometimes we need think first before we get too excited and head for a disaster that is HOPPING TO CHEAPNESS and deterioration.
Would be good if there is a route like mrt. Taft to north edsa and versa.
What kind of cars are allowed to join the uberhop?
AUVs. We’ll publish another post about it once Uber opens it up for partners so watch out. Subscribe to our blog so you can get updates in your email. 🙂
Come on UBER you are implementing another kind of Promo AGAIN…. BUT in reality only Us (Driver/Operator) suffer from your Schemes… You try to promote your new service but how about Us?! We, operator and driver always bare our Loss ALONE! But there are no Loss in your part. Time will Come Uber will operate alone without Driver and operator because your killing us little by little and you always give a huge FAVOR to the rider but no Favor to us Driver and operator.
Where exactly is the pickup point in Makati
we’ve updated the post. please see the matrix. thanks! 🙂
Suggestion: I hope you can make uberhop Makati to bgc at an earlier time like 6 🙂
Great suggestion!
I hope there is uberhop from bf paranaque to bgc
Right no, wala pa po
I am a frequent rider of uberhop. hope you can create a route from makati going to pioneer. they are a lot of commuters from taking this area as well. 🙂 thanks.
Pioneer is near SM light 🙂
Thanks for the reply and well aware of that. I guess my fault, what I mean is a route in the afternoon coming from Makati going to SM Light since this route is only available in the morning. 🙂
The nearest I think is in Shangrila. But yeah, you can email Uber at the request for the route 😉
Hello! So your Trinoma-BGC Uberhop route is back? I remember it was discontinued or under review last week, was it?
Yeah.. still under review. Just check back often in the App if OK na
In my app, sometimes it mention ‘Non-Stop’. Does it mean anytime we can request Uber HOP? I hope Uber can provide anytime Uber Hop
UberHop is only available at selected time in certain areas only
i suggest that you will make anytime overhop
Hope you can also consider the route that passes through the Makati-Mandaluyong bridge (via Coronado St.) from Mandaluyong to Makati CBD. There are many residents in Tivoli Garden Residences in Coronado St. alone who travel to Makati daily for work.
sana po tikling (ortigas ext.) to makati mero
n…. kasi kawawa po mga commuters dito.
Where is the exact pickup location in Legazpi Street for Makati – Mandaluyong (SM Megamall) PM riders? What is the building/ landmark in Legazpi Street?

Hi Wengd, just assure your correct destination before you request the ride.
Hi uber pde b avanza s uberhop
Hi Jeyo, kindly refer to this link: http://ubermanilatips.com/partner-tip-join-uberhop-manila/
Have you discontinued the Uberhop from Mandaluyong (SM Light) to Makati (Ayala Tower)? Whenever i tried using Uberhop/Ubercommute, the application leads me to BGC and asks me to walk for 30 minutes towards Makati. I dont have problems with the reverse route (Makati to SM Megamall) during the evening though
