Have you heard of Uber’s new FIVE STAR INITIATIVE?
Uber has just started an initiative to have uphold excellent service standards from Uber drivers.
The mechanics are each driver should have an average rating 4.3 above after they’ve completed 50 trips. If the driver rating falls below 4.3 after 50 trips or more, Uber will temporarily deactivate your driver account. The driver will be required to attend a re-training session to activate their accounts again.
What do you think about this? Share with us your insight in the comments below.
Here’s an excerpt from Uber’s Email:
In order to maintain the highest standards and help partners understand how to provide the best service, we are launching the Five Star Initiative. Starting next week, we will invite selected drivers to attend a mandatory re-training session at the Uber office if their driver rating falls below 4.3 stars after they’ve completed 50 trips – during that time, these drivers will be temporarily deactivated until they attend the re-training session.
Why are we doing this?
- We understand that drivers try hard and want to deliver the best service – but sometimes need help in order to understand HOW to provide the best service
- Most drivers have no idea what riders think (or how they rate them) so we want to provide some insight on your performance
- Every driver wants to have an opportunity to improve their performance before it’s too late…
- By identifying issues early, we can help drivers understand how to improve and provide drivers with the tools to succeed
I think maintaining a 4.3 will be a little too hard to maintain for a lot of drivers. I even think it will create an environment for undeserving riders to act like spoiled brats. By experience, I noticed how my rating drops even if all courtesies and politeness has been extended to a rider. There are just a lot of riders that in my opinion would give a low rating just because they are irritated about how bad the traffic is and all other things like having a bad day. I guess there should somehow be a screening on ratings being given, (like low ratings given to drivers by riders with low ratings). You know what I’m sayin? 🙂
I think this will uphold the standard for uber drivers and of Uber as a whole for this is where our marketing begins..good service..affordable rates…better ambiance…intelligent drivers…a chauffeur driven ride experience..for without it we cannot compete..and we cannot co-exist ….with other transport services…
I agree with Benny.. some riders are too irritated about bad traffic we have here in Manila..and I think it is included in their rating to the driver
To maintain high level standard, this sounds good. But is the 4.3 rate valid enough to be considered as base to be able to continue driving with uber? Evaluation has different factors to be considered and how can we be sure that passengers take it seriously in rating their experiences… This might be biased. Can we lower the passing rate a little bit in consideration of other factors that affects their evaluations?
If not reaching 4.3 rate and driver attended the retraining session, what comes next? How many times are they allowed to attend the retraining session? is there a maximum limit, afterwhich uber will totally deactivate the driver’s account? Will the partner operator’s account be affected if one driver does not reach the base rate and has two or more active drivers/car?
Please enlighten as well.
Have you considered giving reward for those driver’s reaching the rate to boost their morale for uber?
Or can we suggest to just have atleast once a month training to all uber drivers rather than deactivating them if didn’t reach the 4.3 rate…
Hi, thanks for the input. But you can directly address your suggestion/concern to Uber at
this will create a bad competition between black hats and white hats…
black hats that has enough resources will use it to purchase other uber drivers and give them bad ratings.. while they purchase their own uber driver and give them good ratings..
worst case scenario is.. kung sino pa ung nagsusumikap at honest.. tendency xa pa ung malulugi… dahil sa mga reseminars.. nasasayang ang oras, pagod at pera… resulting to bankruptcy.. resulting to high demand na ang makikinabang lang is ung mga nanira..
get my point?…
Good day!
Meron akong new invites…paano ang procedure? At paano gagamitin ng invite ko ang code ko?
Salamat
